500 children take part in contests

CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: As a part of the ongoing celebrations for the Children8217;s Day, some 500 children from 15 city schools today participated in cartoon-making and declamation contests held at the Sector 23 Bal Bhawan. The topic for the declamation contest was quot;India in 21st centuryquot;.

Following are the results: Cartoon-making: Archita Aggarwal and Shweta Aggarwal of Sacred Heart School were first and second, respectively. Mohammad Shahid of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 27, was third.

Essay writing competition Hindi: Dipika of Government Model School, Sector 29 A, Sunmana of Shishu Niketan Model High School, Sector 22, and Roohani, Manav Mangal High School, Sector 21 C, were first, second and third respectively.

Essay writing competition Punjabi: Amandeep, Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, Simranjit, Shishu Niketan High School, Sector 22, and Jasvin, Aksip School, Sector 41, stood first, second and third , respectively.Essay writing competition English: Mirdula, Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, Aftab, St Stephen8217;s School, Sector 45, and Rajni, Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, stood first, second and third respectively.

Special group: Vikas Hindi Institute for Blind was declared first; Sunil Punjabi Institute for Blind was declared second.
