Violence marred the last phase of polls in inner Manipur LS seat 8212; a CRPF jawan and two drivers on poll duty were killed, four were injured and two ministers escaped a militant attack. Proxy-voting was rampant in the districts as most polling agents failed to turn up in view of the 17-hour bandh called by the banned UNLF. Militants attacked at least five polling booths.

Reports said insurgents opened fire at personnel of the 14th CRPF battalion at Wangu Sabal and Ningthoukhong areas, bordering interior Thoubal and Bishenpur district.
