
The Andhra Pradesh police today killed two suspected Naxalites, including a woman, in an encounter near the AP-Chhattisgarh border. Officials said, this morning, the police were on a routine patrol when they stumbled upon a Naxal hideout in a forest area in Khammam district this morning. Superintendent of Police RK Meena said that the two were killed after an exchange of fire. Five others, however, managed to escape.
8220;At 8.30 am this morning, the team stumbled upon them while carrying out combing operation in the Kotapalli forest area,8217;8217; said Meena. He said the two bodies have not yet been identified. Two rifles, ammunition and a few Naxalite literature were recovered from the spot.
The Khammam district has seen a large number of Naxalite surrenders this month. Recently, 18 Naxalites, belonging to different groups, surrendered in the district. Yesterday, five other Naxalites surrendered to Meena.
