19-year-old shoots father

An IPS officer8217;s brother was shot dead by his own son in Tapka village of Shajapur district on Saturday.

Rajesh Malviya, 19, told the police that his father Sidhnath used to beat his mother and their relationship had been strained for the past couple of months. Sidhnath was sleeping when the teenager son shot him dead from close range using his father8217;s licensed .12-bore weapon. Sidnath8217;s brother C S Malviya is an IPS officer posted at the police headquarters in Bhopal.

Shujalpur Police Station in-charge Sajjan Singh Chouhan told The Indian Express that Rajesh had confessed to the crime. Rajesh, who has studied till X Std, told the police that he was angry with his father for assaulting his mother. The eldest of Sidhnath8217;s three sons told the police that his only shot proved fatal.

Rajesh was arrested after his mother Sushila walked into the Shujalpur police station to inform that her husband was lying dead at their home.
