As BTS’ V joins Cartier as brand ambassador, Rs 22 lakh Panther necklace sells out in minutes

French luxury jewellery house Cartier has announced BTS singer Kim “V” Taehyung as its newest global brand ambassador. As soon as the announcement was made with V sharing images from the shoot, Cartier’s iconic Panthère de Cartier necklace, which is made of white gold, diamonds, onyx, and emeralds, sold out within minutes for a whopping 22 lakh before the site witnessed a crash.

Cartier shared images of V sporting jewellery from the new Cartier’s Panthère de Cartier collection, a range of jewellery, watches, and accessories inspired by the grace of the (you guessed it) panther. V will be the face of this collection.

V was seen sporting a sculptural diamond ring, tête-à-tête panther bracelet, the Révélation d’une Panthère watch as well as the necklace in the new images from the shoot, fashion publication WWD reported.

V also rocked a blood-red shirtless pantsuit set and pulled the look off with his blonde hair styled in a sultry look.

In a press statement, Cartier cited V’s “magnetic gaze” as a perfect match for the feline collection. “V follows his trajectory with the same determination as the panther,” said Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s senior vice president and chief marketing. “A free spirit, both author and composer, he magnetises an entire generation as a soloist and member of the group BTS.”

According to fashion publication High Snobiety, BTS fans reportedly crashed the website of the luxury French jewellery brand. They’re also said to have bought out all the remaining stock of the $26,700 necklace V is pictured wearing in his Panthère campaign.

Many of the BTS singers have been tapped as brand ambassadors for luxury brands. V, himself, joined the couture house of Celine as a brand ambassador in March, after an appearance at the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show.

His other bandmates too have deals like these lined up with RM signing with Bottega Veneta as a brand ambassador, SUGA joining Valentino, Jungkook taking Calvin Klein to new heights, and Jimin sparkling in a Tiffany & Co campaign.

The band is currently on a year-long break to allow its members to focus on solo projects, as well as give them the time to serve their compulsory military service in their home country, South Korea.
