*Fill it in a flask and keep it around all the time and keep sipping it all day, she said.

Does the home remedy work?

Pomegranate peel is believed to have potential benefits for relieving cough due to its rich content of antioxidants, primarily tannins, and flavonoids. According to Dr Ranga Santosh Kumar, consultant general physician, and diabetologist, Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, these compounds have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that may contribute to “soothing irritation in the throat and respiratory tract, offering relief from cough symptoms”.

However, it’s essential to note that scientific research specifically addressing the efficacy of pomegranate peel for cough relief is limited, stressed Dr Kumar. “While some traditional medicine practices incorporate pomegranate peel for respiratory benefits, more comprehensive studies are needed to establish its effectiveness conclusively.”
