Morning drinks that can help decrease bad cholesterol levels naturally

High levels of bad cholesterol are harmful to your health because they contribute to the formation of arterial plaques. As the plaques build up, they reduce the blood flow to essential organs and tissues, potentially leading to serious health complications.

Bad cholesterol, also known as LDL cholesterol (Low-Density Lipoprotein), is a type of cholesterol that can accumulate in the walls of your blood vessels and form plaques. These plaques can narrow and block the arteries leading to a condition called atherosclerosis, according to Ekta Singhwal, M.Sc (dietician), Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals. Atherosclerosis increases the risk of various cardiovascular problems, such as heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral artery disease.

“High levels of bad cholesterol are harmful to your health because they contribute to the formation of these arterial plaques. As the plaques build up, they reduce the blood flow to essential organs and tissues, potentially leading to serious health complications,” she said.

Singhwal noted that if a plaque ruptures, it can trigger the formation of a blood clot that may block blood flow completely, resulting in a heart attack or stroke. While exercise and following a balanced diet are pertinent in reducing bad cholesterol levels, a number of natural remedies also work. These include concoctions of different ingredients that can be sipped in the morning.

– 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled
– 1 cup of water

Method
1. Put the chopped beetroot, carrots, and ginger in a blender.
2. Add water and blend until you get a smooth consistency.

4. Pour the juice into a glass and serve it fresh.

Please note that while certain drinks can contribute to overall heart health, it’s essential to maintain a balanced diet and an active lifestyle for cholesterol management.

Remember, these morning drinks are not a substitute for medical treatment, or a cholesterol-lowering medication prescribed by your healthcare provider. “It’s essential to consult a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have existing health conditions or are taking medications,” said Singhwal.
