Throughout his latest interview with cricket commentator Jatin Sapru, Virat Kohli emphasised only one virtue — intent. It is also the quality he would like his daughter Vamika to inherit. “If your intent is right and you work 100 per cent, you will be fine in anything you choose to do in life. For me, everything is intent. With the right intent, you are willing to work hard every day of your life. No compromises. Whether it is rest, recovery, eating, daily practice, meeting people, your behaviour, everything falls under working as much as you can every day of your life,” the 35-year-old said.

Taking a cue, let’s understand how ‘intent’ can make a difference in your life.

Your intent is the foundation behind everything you do in life. It shapes your actions, decisions, and, ultimately, your outcomes. “Intent is more than just a thought or motivation – it’s the energy and purpose you bring to every task, conversation, and relationship,” said Delnna Rrajesh, psychotherapist, relationship breakthrough coach, and the creator of the Kintsugi Healing Mastery Program.

Intent is the energy that defines how you show up. It’s the difference between acting out of obligation and acting with purpose. When your intent is grounded in empowerment and abundance, your impact is amplified, added Delnna.

According to Delnna, it’s not just what you do but why you do it that shapes your life. “Intent is the energy, the purpose, the force behind every single action you take. Your WHY is the foundation for everything you build. When you approach life with pure intent, aligned with your highest values, the energy you bring to any situation is transformative,” Delnna told indianexpress.com.

On the other hand, when your intent is rooted in fear, resentment, or self-doubt, it can lead to anxiety, emotional burnout, and relational struggles, noted Delnna.

“With the support of a mentor or on your own, when you become aware of your intent, you gain control over how you act, react, and feel in your day-to-day life. You stop running on autopilot and instead, start creating a life that resonates with your inner truth and purpose,” said Delnna.
