Designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla on collaborating with Uorfi Javed: ‘There’s a lot more to her…’

Uorfi Javed‘s bold and creative outfits (almost) always leave the audience spellbound (and also scratching their heads). The social media influencer not only experiments with her style uninhibited, but also often creates her own looks from scratch — whether using a garbage bag, can caps, or candy floss.

But, very recently, she created a buzz on the internet as she appeared in an exquisite creation by designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla — in a hand-embroidered silk tulle sari that featured crystals and sequins in silver and gold — from their ‘Dazzle Collection’.

Now, the fashion designers have revealed the reason behind collaborating with Uorfi in an Instagram video, writing: “We dressed Uorfi Javed to show that there is a lot more to her than what meets the eye. For us, collaborating with Uorfi means acknowledging her courage.”

In the video, Uorfi can also be seen posing in a gorgeous pastel pink organza lehenga and sharing her experience of collaborating with the dynamic duo. She said, “I was always a big fan, so when they asked me for this, I was so excited. And when I went on the set, I just didn’t see tall and slim models…there was everyone. It was so inclusive…that’s what I actually stand for.”

Adding, she said, “So the lehenga (I am wearing), the detailing, embroidery and the material are so rich. It is so pretty. Every detailing…not even a single bead is like here or there. Perfect, perfect, perfect.”

Soon after, the fashion designers also posted some pictures on their Instagram handle, which they captioned: “Uorfi Javed radiates pure glamour in this pastel pink organza lehenga hand-crafted in western embroidery enhanced with sequins, Swarovski and off-white pearls. A matching net dupatta completes her look.”

Prior to this, Uorfi appeared on the digital cover of a magazine wearing some stunning creations by six leading designers, including Anamika Khanna, Rahul Mishra, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, and Almost Gods.

“We put @urf7i together with 6 designers to creatively collaborate for this shoot and dress her in a mix of custom and couture pieces. She worked with them to reimagine existing designs or create completely new ones that perfectly reflected her personality. These are Uorfi-approved,” the magazine shared on its Instagram.
