TNPSC Group 2: Commission seeks feedback on new exam pattern

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is seeking feedback on the changes it has made to the exam pattern of the group II services exam. Stating in a release that while most aspirants are happy with the changes, some might have different views. Therefore, the commission has asked all stakeholders to give feedback. All those who have registered with TNPSC can respond to their survey at tnpsc.gov.in. The link will be active until December 1.

The TNPSC had introduced a new section which will access students on their Tamil skills. In prelims the general studies section will be for 175 marks instead of 150 and further 25 marks will be for mental ability test. A 100 marks section on SSLC level or class 10 level questions is also introduced. Earlier, it used to consist of general studies and general English sections only, each for 150 marks.

In the TNPSC group-II mains, applicants will have to appear for two sub-exams, one section will ask examinees to translate from Tamil to English while the other will ask them to convert English to Tamil. It will be a 100 marks paper and candidates need to score 25 marks to qualify. This will make knowledge of Tamil a major part of the mains as well.

The TNPSC combined civil services II will be an objective type exam. The minimum qualifying marks for all communities will be 90 marks, as per the official notification. Those who clear prelims will be called for mains round.
