The board will also detail the reason behind candidates’ rejection of applications. The SMS and e-mail will be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number and email id providing the reason behind the rejection of applications. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will conduct the recruitment exams for the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) and Group D from December 15. The Railway Minister Piyush Goyal earlier in the Parliament said, “To fix Examination Conducting Agency (ECA) open tenders have been floated. After fixing of ECA, dates for the examinations will be announced.” The Railway Board invited tender for exam conducting agency (ECA) in March.

The RRB NTPC recruitment examinations will be held in three phases — computer-based tests (CBT 1, CBT 2) followed by an interview. The normalised score of the first stage CBT will be used for shortlisting candidates for second stage CBT, based on their merit
1) Learn
Learn all the details about the RRB NTPC exam pattern, syllabus in detail. Once you are aware of the syllabus and all the topics to cover, you can join free online classes to clear all your concepts.
2) Practice
Once you have learned all the concepts, you should practice these concepts with the help of mock tests. Attempt as many mock tests as possible.
3) Analyse
To be successful in a highly competitive exam like RRB NTPC, just practice is not enough to succeed. You should also analyse your performance after each mock test. It would help you improve on your weak areas.
Recruitment process involves
1st stage computer based test (CBT)
2nd stage computer based test (CBT)
Typing skill test/ computer based aptitude test (as applicable) and document verification/ medical examination.
RRB NTPC 1st Stage CBT is common for all the notified posts. There will be negative marking and 1/3 mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
Separate 2nd Stage CBT shall be taken for each of the 7th CPC Level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 with graded difficulty level. All posts falling within the same level of 7th CPC shall have a common 2nd stage CBT.
If candidates are eligible for more than one level of 7th CPC posts as per their educational qualifications, they have to give common 1st stage CBT and corresponding 2nd stage CBT for each level of 7th CPC.
The candidates who have applied for NTPC posts can check their application status by entering their registration number/ date of birth. The status of application- 'Accepted/ Rejected' will appear on the screen. Download, and take a print out for further reference.

There are 35208 vacancies for NTPC (nontechnical popular categories) including the job of a guard, office clerk, commercial clerk etc, 1,663 vacancies for isolated and ministerial categories which means job at the post of a stenographer and equivalent, and 1,03,769 vacancies for level 1 posts including those of track maintainers, pointsman etc.
The board will also detail the reason behind candidates’ rejection of applications. “The scrutiny of applications has been completed and candidates can view the status of their applications under – (i) Provisionally Eligible and (ii) Rejected (along with reasons for rejection). Status of application can be viewed through the LINK provided on the websites of respective RRBs,” RRB in its notification mentioned.
