IAF APCAT Exam 1 2024: The Indian Air Force has released the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) notification for exam 1. Registration will start on December 2 and end on December 31 at afcat.cdac.in/AFCAT. This year, the IAF is hiring for 336 vacancies which includes flying branch, and ground duty (technical and non-technical) branches among others.

There are 30 vacancies for flying branch candidates, followed by 189 for technical ground duty and 117 for non-technical ground duty. Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course and marriage is not permitted during training.

AFCAT 2024: Eligibility criteria

A candidate who is interested in the opportunity has to be a citizen of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act 1955. The candidate who has applied for the flying branch either through AFCAT or NCC should be between the age group of 20 to 24 years. The age limit for ground duty aspirants should be between 20 to 26 years old.

AFCAT 2024: How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website— afcat.cdac.in

Step 2: Click on new registration and register filling in your basic details

Step 3: Once registered, log in using your registration number and password and create a new password

Step 4: Fill out the remaining application form

Step 5: Save, submit and pay the fees

Step 6: Download the application form for future reference

The application fee is non-refundable and candidates will have to pay Rs 550 as the fees.

The Air Force officers receive various benefits including furnished accommodation, medical cover, subsidised loans, and Rs 1.10 crore insurance coverage (contributory), apart from sports facilities and adventure activities.

The engagement period for flying branch SSC officers is 14 years from the date of commissioning. “The initial tenure for SSC officers in ground duty (tech and non-tech) branches would be for 10 years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit,” read the notification.

The training for the shortlisted candidates will commence in the first week of July 2025 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for flying and ground duty (technical) branches is 62 weeks and that of ground duty (non-technical) branches is 52 weeks at Air Force training establishments.
