Where are the landslide survivors now?

On July 30 last year, a portion of the hill behind Mundakkai in Wayanad came down in multiple landslides, leaving villages buried and 795 families comprising 2,569 people affected.

The survivors were initially staying in relief camps in Meppadi panchayat. They were then sent to live in government-sponsored rented houses and unused government residential properties, from where they are said to have been temporarily relocated.

Affected families are given aid of Rs 18,000 each per month for two persons. Apart from this, Rs 6,000 for monthly rent, announced by the government, will also be paid.
