‘Un-Indian behaviour’: BJP says Rahul doesn’t deserve to be LoP

Hours after members of the ruling and the Opposition parties scuffledat the Makar Dwar of Parliament, the BJP held a press conference, alleging that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour was “un-Indian” and he does not deserve to occupy the post of Leader of Opposition.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan came down heavily on the Opposition, Congress in particular, saying: “Whatever happened in Parliament today… “dhakka-mukki, gundagardi”… improper and indecent behaviour… which a civilised society cannot even imagine.”

Briefing on the health of the two BJP members injured in the incident, Chouhan said: “Today when BJP MPs were staging a protest at Makar Dwar, Rahul Gandhi turned up and insisted on passing through them instead of using the space left on one side of the staircase used by members to enter and exit the building. Our elderly, decent and disciplined MP Pratap Sarangi fell down and sustained a serious injury in the head. He is admitted to ICU and undergoing treatment. Mukesh Rajput was unconscious when I went to see him.”

He said that the party was also pained at the treatment meted out to its tribal MP from Nagaland S Phangnon Konya, who alleged in the Rajya Sabha that Rahul Gandhi shouted at her after coming in “close proximity” that made her feel uncomfortable. “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi… was his behaviour decent and dignified? Is that the culture of India?” he said.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that a woman TDP MP has told that after Pratap Sarangi sustained injury, some MPs called Rahul and questioned his behaviour. “He came and left like there was nothing. He did not show the courtesy of apologising… He tried to grievously hurt Pratap Sarangi… He pushed and attacked everyone… he should apologise for that.”
