Two days after Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube accounts, including the popular podcast channel ‘BeerBiceps’ became the target of a cyber attack, both his accounts were restored by the streaming platform on Friday.
The hackers took over Allahbadia’s accounts, changed their usernames to ‘Tesla’, and deleted most of the posts and videos on Wednesday night. The ‘BeerBiceps’ channel was renamed “@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024,” while his personal channel was changed to “@Tesla.event.trump_2024”, reported BusinessToday. All his podcasts and interviews were replaced with old streams featuring Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
While YouTube has not put out a statement, it removed the hacked channels from its website, showing the message: “This page isn’t available”.
Allahbadia took to Instagram stories in response, where he posted a photo of a vegan burger and wrote, “Celebrating my two main channels being hacked with my favourite food… Death of BeerBiceps met with death of diet.”
In a subsequent story, he shared a selfie with an eye mask with the caption “Is this the end of my YouTube career? Was nice knowing you all.”
In another status from a different account, he shared a short clip of him running in a jungle and captioned it: “me after seeing that my channel got hacked.”
The cyberattack comes on the heels the Supreme Court’s official Youtube being hacked on 20 September. A blank video with the title “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION” was live on the hacked channel.
Those who tried to access it since the attack said all they could see was an ad while some users were re-directed to a different YouTube channel.
