TikTok star Sonali Phogat, who had recently unsuccessfully contested the Haryana Assembly Elections from Adampur constituency on a BJP ticket, has registered a complaint against her sister and brother-in-law, accusing the duo of allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill her.
In her complaint with Sadar police station, Fatehabad, Phogat claimed that on Diwali, her sister Rukesh and brother-in-law Aman Punia misbehaved with her and also threatened to kill her.
Inspector Prahlad Singh, Station House Officer, said, “The matter pertains to October 28 night when Sonali Phogat called the police and lodged her complaint. She alleged that on Diwali night, Rukesh and Aman Punia reached her residence in Bhunthan Kalan village in Fatehabad and misbehaved with her. She alleged that both of them also threatened to kill her.”
The officer added, “Sonali has her parental home in Bhunthan Kalan village. It appears to be an ongoing family dispute. There is a political issue involved in it. No arrests have been made as of yet.”
A case under sections 323 (assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code has been registered, the inspector said.
Phogat had lost to Congress’ Kuldeep Bishnoi in the recently-held Assembly polls.
