According to police sources, former Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) district president Kanav Sharma, the son of a senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma and a lawyer, had an argument over parking his scooter outside a power station in New Plot area. Two people inside the power station allegedly objected to his parking there, and when the argument escalated, one of them whipped out a pistol and fired two shots, one of which hit Kanav in the stomach.
Superintendent of Police North Jammu Vivek Shekhar Sharma claimed that one of the suspects in the case is an employee of the power department. The BJP youth leader, meanwhile, was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.
“He’s currently absconding. Multiple police teams are looking for him,” he said, adding that the suspect’s scooter, also parked at the same spot, had now been impounded.
