‘Save your family from falling apart’: BJP’s message to Lalu-Rabri after daughter Rohini Acharya’s exit

JD(U) MLC Khalid Anwar questioned her decision to enter politics. “Why did Rohini Acharya come from Singapore to do politics in Bihar? Who invited her into politics? And if she entered politics only because she is Lalu Yadav ji’s daughter, then crying and bringing family disputes into the public will not earn her any sympathy,” he said.

Acharya’s announcement came on Saturday, when she wrote on X that she was quitting politics and “disowning” her family. She said: “This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I am taking all the blame.” She did not explain her remarks.

Her exit added to tensions within the RJD’s first family. Last month, she unfollowed Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav on X after posting remarks critical of Sanjay Yadav’s influence in the party. Sanjay, a Rajya Sabha MP, works closely with Tejashwi. Rameez is a long-time friend of Tejashwi.

Acharya contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Saran but lost to BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy by more than 13,000 votes.
