Two killed in Bihar quake

A five-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed on her at a house in Nalanda's Sabanhua village.

Two persons were killed in Bihar’s Nalanda and Darbhanga areas after a tremor shook several parts of the state this evening,officials said.

A five-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed on her while she was playing at a house in Nalanda’s Sabanhua village,they said.

According to an official report from Darbhanga,a youth died of head injury after he dashed against a wall while running out of his house on experiencing the tremor.

Several mud houses were reported to have been damaged in Nalanda and few other places due to the quake.

In Patna,people hurriedly left their house and took shelter at open places.

A stampede-like situation prevailed at a mall in Pataliputra colony when people,including those sitting in the cinema hall,ran to safe places as the building shook for 15 to 20 seconds.

According to a report from Katihar,two newly-constructed houses collapsed in Laliyahi Mohalla but none was injured.

The tremors were also felt at several places including Mothiari,Bettiah,Madhubani,Muzaffarpur,Darbhanga,Munger,Bhagalpur,Samastipur and Begusarai.
