The Congress high command is holding consultations with MPs,MLAs and MLCs from Telangana, who have quit their posts, and a solution to the crisis is expected soon, state party chief Botsa Satyanarayana said today.
They (legislators from Telangana) have quit their posts due to the circumstances. There is nothing more to it. A solution will be found to the problem, he told reporters in reply to a query on the crisis gripping the state government and the Congress following the en masse resignations.
The ministers and others would remain in their posts till the resignations are accepted,he said.
They have resigned. But,since the resignations have not been accepted, they continue to be ministers, he said.
When pointed out that the Congress high command is yet to do anything on the issue, even though some of the ministers and MPs who have quit for Telangana are camping in Delhi, the PCC president said that top leaders are holding consultations.
You (media) have shown that talks are going on continuously. How can it be said that nothing is being done, he asked.
Asked what was the need to hold further consultations,as suggested by Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, since the Sri Krishna Committee had already held wide-ranging consultations,Satyanarayana said it was a technical panel, which studied the issue and gave six suggestions to the government.
There is a need to hold further consultations to find a good and early solution to the issue in view of the sensitivities involved,he said.
As many as 101 MLAs,out of 119 from Telangana, have resigned in support of separate statehood demand till yesterday. The strength of the Andhra Pradesh assembly is 294.
