Omar reviews development projects in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reviewed the progress of various development projects in the Valley and urged concerned agencies to fasten the pace of ongoing works,officials said here today.

Omar,who chaired a high level meeting in Srinagar on Saturday,was briefed about the progress of the four-laning of a National Highway from Qazigund to Srinagar,an official spokesman said.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the supplementary scheme of four-laning of the National Highway stretch from Ganderbal to Narbal.

He asked the concerned central agencies to the complete these projects at the earliest as they would help ease traffic on these stretches.

Laying stress on the need for adequate supply of essential commodities and fuel in the Valley,especially in snow bound and remote areas,Omar gave directions to Kashmir divisional administration to ensure hassle free distribution of edibles and LPG.

The Chief Minister warned that the state must be prepared to face possible exigencies on account of snowfall,torrential rains and water logging.

Special attention has to be paid to stop hoarding which creates scarcity of essentials especially during a blockade of the national highway and on account of weather vagaries,Omar said.

Talking about the frequent disruption of power during winters,Omar said the state power department must be equipped to restore power especially in important public service institutions like health centres.

The Chief Minister also directed the health department to take steps for establishing Digital Imaging Centre in SMHS hospital for which State Government would provide adequate funds.
