Geelani hints at instensifying protests

Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday hinted at intensifying protests, accusing the Centre of not being keen on normalising situation in the Valley.

Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday hinted at intensifying protests, accusing the Centre of not being keen on normalising situation in the Valley as it had not responded to his five-point formula to resolve the crisis even 45 days after it was offered.

“It seems that New Delhi is not keen on normalising the situation in the valley as there has been no positive response to our five-point formula despite the fact that 45 days have passed,” the hardline Hurriyat Conference Chairman said.

Hinting at intensifying the protests,Geelani said he cannot wait forever for the Centre to react to his sugestions.

“We had given the suggestion with sincerity and good intentions but putting the Kashmir issue on the back burner can lead to loss of more precious lives and we do not want to be a party to it,” the Hurriyat leader said.

Geelani said October and November months were of historic importance for Jammu and Kashmir as “it was on the black October 27 day that Indian troops landed in Kashmir” in 1947.

The Hurriyat Chairman issued a fresh agitation calendar for the next 10 days. He has exempted October 17,20 and 24 from the purview of strike and protests.
