Committee to probe intelligence input on Silda attack

A three-member inquiry committee constituted to probe the Maoist attack at the EFR camp at Silda in West Midnapore district would look into the Intelligence input prior to attack.

A three-member inquiry committee constituted to probe the Maoist attack at the EFR camp at Silda in West Midnapore district would look into the Intelligence input prior to attack.

“The inquiry committee must see how the EFR personnel can be provided with improved infrastructure to serve the force more effectively. Intelligence input prior to the attack will also be looked into by the committee,” West Bengal Chief Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty said here Tuesday.

The committee headed by Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen would also ascertain how the state paramilitary force’s service conditions could be improved,he said.

The state government formed the committee to look into the attack at the EFR camp which claimed the lives of 24 EFR personnel on February 15.

The detailed terms of reference of the committee,which has been asked to submit its report within two months,have been prepared,Chakraborty said.

The committee would fix responsibility on the lapses,point out the cause of its occurrence,and also measures to prevent it.

Other committee members are ADG (CID) Raj Kanojia and IGP (Western Range) Kuldip Singh.
