Priyanka Gandhi in Chhattisgarh: If we come back to power, we’ll hold a caste census

“Instead of strengthening the farmers, they (BJP) are weakening them. A farmer earns Rs 27 a day while Adani-ji and other industrialists earn Rs 1,600 crore a day. Your wealth is given to him and when your turn comes, they say ‘we have no money’. Do you want such a PM? Do you want such a government in India or your state? Do you want such a CM who first will grab all your wealth and will not give you anything. The BJP government is for the rich and has no vision for the poor and the middle class. Be it pension or a caste census, they try to deviate you by talking about religion or some other things you are emotionally connected to. Ask them why they are not doing a caste census,” Priyanka said.

वहीं मोदी जी के मित्र एक दिन में 1600 करोड़ रुपए कमा रहे हैं।

“If we come back to power, like in Bihar, we will do a caste census here too. Did you see the figures in Bihar (caste census)? About 84 per cent are OBC, SC and ST. But they are not seen in big posts in government. Are there 84% OBC, SC and ST in big posts? Is it not their right? Then why can’t there be a caste census? Whenever we talk about your rights, the BJP goes mum or deviates you,” she said.

Priyanka said that Modi’s neeyat (intention) was evident, alleging that he was not initiating schemes for the poor and farmers. “See our prime minister, as (CM Bhupesh) Baghel said, he is giving all the wealth of our country to his arabpati (billionaire) friends. Thousands and crores of loans have been waived for arabpatis. But when the topic of farmers comes up, they say they do not have money to waive loans. We waived loans in 24 hours. The PM bought two planes worth Rs 8,000 crore for himself,” she said.

“He spent Rs 20,000 crore on Parliament when one good Parliament was already there. He spent Rs 27,000 crore on the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre. But when we talk about the old pension scheme, they say ‘we do not have money’. But to increase his aan baan shaan (self-respect and prestige), he makes buildings, gives them to his friends and sells the country’s wealth to his industrialist friends. Our neeyat is clean and we will work for the people. We will give pensions,” the Congress leader said.
