Not relenting on his decision to step down as Congress president following the party’s rout in the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul has, however, indicated that he will continue on the post till such time a suitable replacement is found.
Priyanka Gandhi was addressing the public during a road show in Mirzapur Friday to campaign for party candidate Lalitesh Pati Tripathi, who is contesting against Anupriya Patel, union minister and leader of Apna Dal, an ally of BJP.
Priyanka said, “If any leader adopts the path of lies and becomes arrogant, the public shows him the truth. The kind of politics prevalent in our country at present is not based on truth but on mere publicity."
Priyanka Gandhi, who is also incharge for Uttar Pradesh East, shook hands with the BJP supporters and said, "Aap apni jagah, main meri jagah. All the best (You are good at your place and I am at mine)."
Priyanka Gandhi said if the PM had done “tapasya for even 50 hours”, then he would not be speaking the language of hate today. Rahul said the PM was fighting the ongoing elections based on hatred and the Congress was fighting with love.
