With the Lok Sabha being adjourned till July 1, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of shirking from debating on the NEET UG fiasco and alleged that he was not being allowed to speak on the issue in Parliament. In a video released on social media platform X, the senior Congress leader, said: “There has been a disaster as far as NEET is concerned and everybody knows that the paper was leaked and people made thousands and crores of money. The dreams and aspirations of all those students have been destroyed and ridiculed.” Alleging that there was a systemic issue in the manner in which competitive exams are conducted, he asserted that the Opposition parties had taken a unanimous decision to earmark one day to discuss the issue, however, he was not allowed to speak. "When I raised the issue in the Parliament, I was not allowed to speak despite this affecting 2 crore students, 70 times in 7 years," he said. He also said that he was not allowed to speak on the Prime Minister’s directive. “It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister, who should be leading the discussion, simply does not want a debate.” The National Testing Agency has been mired in controversy over allegations of paper leak for over a month. On Thursday students of the NSUI, the Congress's student wing stormed the NTA's office in Okhla.
