NHSRCL invites bids for final alignment design of Amritsar–Jammu High Speed Rail Corridor

Amritsar-Jammu High Speed Rail Corridor, Amritsar Jammu rail corridor tender: The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has invited bids for preparing the final alignment design of the Amritsar–Jammu High Speed Rail Corridor. Currently, the NHSRCL is actively engaged in the construction of India’s first bullet train project: the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.
According to the tender document, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has invited e-tenders from eligible applicants for preparing the final alignment design of the Amritsar–Jammu High-Speed Rail Corridor (AJHSRC). The estimated cost of the contract has been set at Rs 5.47 crore.
The 240-km-long Amritsar–Jammu High-Speed Rail Corridor is expected to enhance rail connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. The project will not only improve travel and promote tourism but also provide a major boost to the regional economy.

Possible Bullet train routes in India
Previously, the National Rail Plan mentioned the following routes for possible development of high speed rail network:
Earlier this year, RITES, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has started the feasibility study for the proposed Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridor. This will be the South India’s first bullet train project.
The feasibility study by RITES will determine – traffic analysis, demand forecasts, alignment surveys and topographical studies. Later, it will also prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Hyderabad–Chennai High-Speed Rail Corridor.

Previously, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the first bullet train in India will run in August 2027. However, the entire project is expected to be completed by December, 2029.

The country’s first bullet train will run from Surat to Bilimora. The stretch is a part of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor.
