‘Negative Politics’: Priyanka Gandhi on Centre’s decision to observe June 25 as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’
On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the government's decision to observe June 25, the day Emergency was declared in 1975, as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas'.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday hit back at the Centre for its decision to observe June 25 as “Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas,” saying that “those who repeatedly attacked the spirit of the Constitution will celebrate it with negative politics.”
“Those who opposed the implementation of the Constitution, formed a commission to review the Constitution, called for the abolition of the Constitution, and repeatedly attacked the spirit of the Constitution and democracy through their decisions and actions, will definitely celebrate ‘Constitution Murder Day’ with negative politics, what is surprising in this?” she wrote in a post on X.
She further said that those who made the Constitution and have faith in it would protect it.
“The great people of India fought a historic battle to achieve their independence and constitution. Those who made the constitution, those who have faith in the constitution, will protect the constitution,” she said.

On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the government’s decision to observe June 25, the day Emergency was declared in 1975, as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’ to commemorate the “massive contributions” of those who endured “inhuman pains” of the period.
“On June 25, 1975, the then PM Indira Gandhi, in a brazen display of a dictatorial mindset, strangled the soul of our democracy by imposing the Emergency on the nation… The Government of India has decided to observe the 25th of June every year as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas.’ This day will commemorate the massive contributions of all those who endured the inhuman pains of the 1975 Emergency.” he wrote on X.
