BJP national president and Union Minister J P Nadda on Thursday wrote to Mallikarjun Kharge in response to the Congress president’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding statements made against Rahul Gandhi by BJP leaders. Nadda labeled Rahul Gandhi a “failed product” being polished for relaunch and alleged that Kharge had turned a blind eye to the use of derogatory language against PM Modi by Congress leaders, including the Gandhis, for many years.
“Kharge ji, because of your constraints, you have written a letter aimed at repolishing your failed product for the market that is far from the truth in terms of content,” Nadda said in the letter.
Nadda was referring to Kharge’s letter to the PM expressing deep dismay over Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu calling Rahul “number-1 terrorist” and a former MLA purportedly giving him a death threat.
The BJP leader sought to know why the Congress forgot the value of decorum in politics when Sonia Gandhi called Modi “maut ka saudagar” (merchant of death). “It is unfortunate that the Congress, as a whole, has internalised the impure thoughts of Rahul Gandhi and is also feeling embellished by doing so. In the last 10 years, the Congress has showered the PM with 110 words of abuse, and the top leadership of the party has also been guilty of doing so,” Nadda said.
“In independent India no mass leader was insulted as much as your party’s leaders have insulted the Prime Minister. And the more the cuss words a leader used against the PM, the higher the post he was promoted to. If I start giving examples of this, I will have to write a book,” he added.
Nadda asked, “What are you proud of Rahul Gandhi? That he embraces anti-India and pro-Pakistan people or that he stands in solidarity with terrorists? That he asks for support from anti-national forces or that he requests other nations to interfere in Indian democracy? That he talks about caste and reservation to divide society or that he goes abroad and talks about ending reservation for backwards, Dalits and Adivasis? That he spews venom against peace in Jammu and Kashmir or that he recommends talks and trade with Pakistan and restoration of Article 370? That he calls Hindus a bigger threat than Pakistani terror organisations or that he insults Sanatani Hindu culture?”
He also accused Rahul Gandhi of questioning the valour of army jawans and also making objectionable statements about the turban and bracelet of Sikhs. Nadda in his letter accused Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders Sam Pitroda, Imran Masood, Shashi Tharoor, Digvijaya Singh, P Chidambaram, and Sushil Kumar Shinde of leaving no stone unturned to defame the country.
He added that dividing the country on north-south lines had become the nature of the Congress, and that slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” were raised in its meetings. He said the Congress was the party that imposed the Emergency, supported instant triple talaq and defamed constitutional institutions.
Saying that he would pray that Kharge gets right thoughts and the strength to work for the country, Nadda said, “In the so-called Mohabbat Ki Dukaan of the power-hungry Congress run by your leader Rahul Gandhi, the products that are being sold are the poison of casteism, seed of ill-will, spice of anti-nationalism, the chemical to defame the country and a hammer to break it. I hope you and your party must have got answers to your questions.”
