Two people were arrested on charges of assault and abduction in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district after a widely circulated video showed a man being thrashed inside a moving car and being forced to lick the foot of one of the attackers, police said on Saturday.

There were four accused in the case, and police teams have been deployed to arrest the remaining two, said Rajesh Chandel, superintendent of police, Gwalior.

The video had gone viral on social media Friday. “When the said video came to the notice of the Gwalior police, prompt action was taken, and a case of kidnapping and assault was registered against the four youths involved in the thrashing… Out of the four accused, two have been caught by the police, including the main accused,” the SP said.

The victim of the assault, Mohsin Khan, is a resident of Dabra town in Gwalior district. The accused – Golu Gurjar, Sudeep Gurjar, Tejendra Gurjar and Amit Gurjar – were also from the same town. The incident took place on June 23.

Police said the incident was a fallout of a previous fight between Khan and Golu Gurjar in May.

“The victim and his accomplices were also seen in a viral video on May 21, 2023, in which he had previously assaulted the accused in the Dabra area. Action has been taken in connection with that case,” SP Chandel said. In that video, four people are seen beating a man with sticks.
