Mizoram forms panel to resolve border dispute with Assam
The panel, constituted through a notification on January 3, will have the Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the state Home Department Commissioner, the advisor to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the state DGP.

The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government in Mizoram has constituted a ‘Boundary Committee’ led by Home Minister Sapdanga to look into vexed Assam-Mizoram boundary issues.
The panel, constituted through a notification on January 3, will have the Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the state Home Department Commissioner, the advisor to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and the state DGP. The panel will also include one member each from the recognised parties in the state — BJP, Congress, Mizo National Front, ZPM and AAP, among others.
Mizoram shares a 165-km boundary with Assam across three districts on either side — Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi (Assam), and Mamit, Kolasib and Aizawl (Mizoram). The border dispute turned violent in 2021 when six Assam cops were killed after the forces of the two states clashed. Since then, Assam has been trying to resolve the disputes.
