Sena MLA suspended for a year

The incident occurred when the House was debating scarcity in Osmanabad during Question Hour.

Nimbalkar alleged government employees responsible for ensuring water supply to the area were indulging in rampant corruption and wanted the state to act against them.

When water supply minister Laxman Dhoble denied corruption,Nimbalkar was miffed and he climbed the podium of the Speaker and lifted the mace.

A visibly angry Deputy Speaker Vasant Purke asked him to leave and suspended him.

Nimbalkar later questioned the clean chit given by the minister to government officials saying the Osmanabad district collector had probed alleged irregularities in water supply and asked police to book the accused.

“It is 10 months since the order was passed,but police have not done anything. The collector also wrote to the superintendent of police to file cases against the accused,” the legislator said.

Nimbalkar is the sixth MLA to be suspended this session.

He and Kshitij Thakur,who was suspended for allegedly beating up a traffic cop in Vidhan Bhavan,are the youngest members of the Assembly. They were 26 when they got elected.

Nimbalkar got the Sena ticket after his father Pawanraje,a veteran Congressman,was shot allegedly at the instance of former NCP MP Padamsinh Patil.

Who is Om Raje Nimbalkar

Rajenimbalkar Omprakash Bhupalsinha is popularly known as OM Raje Nimbalkar. He represents Osmanabad. He and Kshitij Thakur are the youngest members of the Assembly. They were elected in 2009 at the age of 26.

Om Raje Nimbalkar is son of Congressman the late Pawanraje Nimbalkar,who was killed allegedly at the instance of his estranged cousin and then NCP MP Padamsinh Patil. Shiv Sena gave him the ticket and he defeated son of Padamsinh Patil
