A CRPF personnel and a civilian were killed in a militant attack in North Kashmir’s Sopore on Wednesday morning. Three other CRPF personnel were injured in the attack and have been shifted to a hospital. A three-year-old boy was also rescued during the attack.
A Srinagar-based CRPF spokesperson said that the party came under attack in Sopore this morning. “Troops of G/179 CRPF along with JKP while placing NAKA were attacked by terrorists at 0735 hrs which was retaliated promptly,” the spokesperson said.
Sopore Police refuted the allegations. “The news surfaced on some social networking sites that the civilian was brought down and killed is totally baseless and is far beyond the facts, Sopore Police refutes and denies the news and legal action shall be initiated against the false reports and rumours,” it said on Twitter.
Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) also demanded an impartial probe in the civilian’s death. “The security forces should exercise maximum restraint in such situations and ensure that no collateral damage takes place during such incidents,” the JKAP spokesman observed.
