Following a fresh bout of violence near the Thailand-Cambodia border, the Indian embassy in Thailand Friday issued an advisory for Indian nationals urging them to avoid travelling to seven provinces in Thailand. The Mission also urged travellers to check for updates from Thailand official sources, including Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), before planning any trip.

The embassy of India said on X, “In view of the situation near the Thailand-Cambodia border, all Indian travellers to Thailand are advised to check updates from Thai official sources, including TAT Newsroom. As per the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the places mentioned in the following link are not recommended for travelling.”

On Friday, the US State Department also advised its citizens to avoid all travel to the area within 50 km of the Thailand-Cambodia border due to military conflict in the region.

Owing to the long-running border disputes, clashes erupted on the border areas of Thailand and Cambodia on Friday after Cambodia reportedly opened fire using small arms and heavy weapons.

The Thai army retaliated with artillery and later scrambled F-16 jets to target, what it called, Cambodian military positions. As per reports, 14 people have been killed in Thailand so far, mostly civilians, while Cambodia has reported one death.
