Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde,himself a former Sub-Inspector,does not like the present uniform of paramilitary forces and said he intends to change it so as to make it more attractive to the youth. Shinde was inaugurating a new campus of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The ministers comment comes a day after he said policemen should not look like old men. Youngsters have an attraction to the uniform. I am planning to change the uniform so that more youngsters will join paramilitary forces, he said.
Shinde batted for paramilitary forces that report to his ministry saying Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are posted 20-30 km ahead of the army on the Line of Actual Control and said that the present arrangement of ITBP is working well at the LAC.
