Expressing happiness over SAD-BJP candidate Joginderpal Jain’s victory at Moga,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said the verdict was a mandate for the pro-people and development oriented policies of the state government.

Stating that despite Congress leaders claiming that the bypoll would the SAD-BJP’s Waterloo, the chief minister said the wise voters of Moga have voted in favour of development and communal harmony thereby showing the door to the Opposition’s divisive policies.

Badal said the Moga election would have far reaching consequences and it would prove to be the last nail in the Congress’ coffin as,he added, the party would be decimated in the state in the forthcoming general elections. The chief minister said the countrymen were fed up by the “anti-people policies of the Congress-led UPA government” and hence would trounce it in the Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of a Sangat Darshan programme in Lambi assembly segment on Thursday,Badal said the state government would oppose tooth and nail, the Centre’s decision to levy Goods and Service Tax (GST) as it is “further infringement upon the rights of the states”.
