Varun typifies his mother: Cong

A day after Priyanka Gandhi advised his cousin Varun Gandhi to read the Gita properly following his controversial election speech,the Congress today alleged that the BJP candidate was “strongly influenced” by his mother Maneka Gandhi.

“He (Varun) is influenced strongly by his mother,” AICC spokesman Mohan Prakash told a news conference in reply to a query what the Congress thought of Varun’s reported inflammatory speech at Pilibhit.

Condemning the BJP’s “attempt to communally polarise” the Uttar Pradesh electorate,Prakash said,“the party has no issue other than whip up communal tension.”

Asked to comment on the BJP deploring the Election Commission for censuring Varun Gandhi and asking the party not to give a ticket,Prakash said the very BJP had earlier “pitched” for the Chief Election Commissioner.
