Undertrial flees from custody

An undertrial was on Wednesday freed by some miscreants while he was being taken from Ludhiana to Moga for a court hearing.

According to sources,the undertrial,Swaran Singh alias Sona — a resident of Daulewala village in Moga — is wanted in various cases of drug smuggling. When the bus with Sona reached a bus stand,around 10 miscreants attacked the police party in two vehicles and got him released. He was being to taken to a court for a hearing in a poppy husk smuggling case.

“We have constituted three special police parties to arrest the culprits. A case has been registered,” DSP (Moga City) Gurmeet Singh said.
