TRS may approach Chiru,if talks of TDP-Left tie fail

KCR has approached Chiranjeevi whose Praja Rajyam has already indicated that it is open to an alliance with the TRS. However,the TDP and Left parties are of the opinion that KCR is only cozing up with Chiranjeevi as an arm-twisting tactic to have his way in the alliance. KCR is keen for a truck with the TDP rather than Chiranjeevi,who he considers as politically inexperienced and unable to convert his popularity into political support.

Talks to forge the tie-up between the TRS,TDP,CPI and CPI(M) started last Wednesday. However,the parties were deadlocked over the number of Lok Sabha seats to be contested by the each party,with the TRS demanding more than what the TDP was ready to share. A letter apparently written by Maoist leader Sudarshan to TRS MLA T Harish Rao,who is KCR’s nephew,asking them not join the TDP-led alliance has also cast a shadow on the talks. Though KCR and Harish Rao have vehemently denied receiving any such letter,it has jeopardised the talks.

“The talks are still on,so there is still hope. We are waiting for word from the TDP,” KCR told media persons after the parties hit a stalemate on Tuesday. Naidu is expected to review the demands made by the TRS and consult senior leaders in his party before sending out word on Wednesday to TRS.
