Tourism-related infrastructure in the state needs to be improved to make it at par with other tourist attracting states of the country,Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora on Saturday said here.
“Domestic market needs to be developed on modern lines by participating in area specific fairs and promotional tours. We need to engage professional tour operators and area specific agents so as to promote tourism at national and international level,” Jora said while addressing the annual general meet of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) here.
The minister admitted that tourism related infrastructure in the state needed further impetus to make it at par with other tourist attracting states of the country.
Stressing the need to further explore possibilities of domestic tourism,the minister said that state which has vast tourism potential need to tap the domestic tourist market professionally.
Jora called upon local entrepreneurs to come forward in developing new tourist destinations like Dodhpathari in Budgam,Gurez and Bungus in Bandipora district.
He also called upon TAAI to act as a self-regulatory body for improving services and facilities in the state tourism sector.
