The Supreme Court on Friday termed as “unwanted” and “not appreciable” some of the comments made by Union ministers of the UPA government in criticism of the court’s verdict on validity of Section 377.

A bench led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam said that some of the statements made by the ministers were “unwarranted” and also “not in a good taste”. The court said that they had all the rights to criticise a judgment and seek proper legal recourse but they should also act responsibly.

It however refrained from admitting the PIL that has sought action against ministers for issuing contemptuous statements and said that the court could only express its displeasure.
