Pandhare seeks voluntary retirement

MERI (Maharashtra Engineering Research Institute) chief engineer Vijay Pandhare,whose series of letters exposed alleged irregularities in irrigation projects,has sought voluntary retirement citing personal reasons.

He has a year left in service. Pandhare first sent a 15-page hand-written letter to the government in February highlighting poor quality of projects. In subsequent letters in May and September,he alleged irregularities.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar resigned following reports of alleged large-scale irregularities in irrigation projects.
