Orissa unit of Rastriya Gokalyan Parishad has urged President Pratibha Patil to halt the proposed move of the organising committee of the Commonwealth games in New Delhi to serve beef to the athletes during their stay in the country.
In India we consider cow as the mother and this is known alll over the world. We also consider guests as God in our country. So it will not be wise to treat the guests with cow meat, the Parishad members said in a memorandum to Patil submitted through Governor Chandrakant Bhandare recently in Bhubaneswar.
Parishad has suggested that to uphold the culture, tradition, unity and prestige of the country, the organisers should serve pure vegetarian food to the guests and athletes during the Games.
