I will not quit on my own: Pinarayi

CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that he would continue in the post until the party says otherwise.

CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that he would continue in the post until the party says otherwise. “I will not quit on my own will. The post of the secretary was a responsibility entrusted to me by the party. Though some persons are eager to remove me from the party, their intention will not be fulfilled,” said Vijayan, without naming his rival V S Achuthanandan, who is determined to unseat the ‘Lavalin-tainted’ secretary.

He said the Lavalin case has not impaired the image of the party. The CPI(M) has resorted to a stand on the issue after discussions. The Supreme Court’s observation on the CBI in Mulayam Singh case attests the party’s stand on the investigating agency,he added.

He was addressing the media at Pattambi in Palakkad during the Kerala yatra. The politburo will meet on February 14 and 15 to discuss the Lavalin issue.
