Governor K Sankaranarayanan has received 60 representations from across the country seeking and opposing clemency to Sanjay Dutt.
An official said Friday 25 of the 60 representations opposed pardon.
The governor has been receiving the petitions ever since Supreme Court (SC) sentenced Dutt to five years imprisonment in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The actor is accused of possessing AK 56 assault rifles and trying to destroy evidence.
Dutt has said he would not appeal the sentence. However,supporters and opponents politicians,actors,associations,senior lawyers,industry representatives,media persons have been meeting the governor to express views.
CM Prithviraj Chavan and home minister R R Patil have also been flooded with letters on the issue but they have decided to not take a view on the matter.
The governor office indicated Friday all petitions received had been forwarded to the home department.
Secretary to the governor Vikas Chandra Rastogi has sent copies of the representations received from Press Council of India chairman Markandey Katju and others in the past few days to the state government.
The governor had sent a petition received from Amar Singh and Jaya Prada to the state home department on March 28.
