The Chandigarh Administration on Thursday held an inquiry into the expulsion of Ruchika Girhotra from the Sacred Heart School here after she was molested by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore.
A senior officer of the Education Department of Chandigarh Administration Deputy Director Saroj Mittal visited the school as part of the probe being conducted by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Prerna Puri regarding Ruchikas expulsion.
However, the school authorities told the officer that the Principal was yet to return to the city as she had gone out of station in view of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The SDM had visited the school on Wednesday in connection with the probe and took into possession some documents.
The convent school,of which Ruchika was an alumna, has said it was trying to ascertain whether she was expelled from the institution under pressure or was withdrawn by her family after the molestation incident.
We are trying to ascertain whether she was expelled or withdrawn by her family from the school, Father Thomas,a spokesman of the school, told reporters yesterday.
The school, located in the Union Territory, allegedly expelled teenager Ruchika,a budding tennis player who was molested by Rathore in 1990. Rathores daughter was also a student of the same class in which Ruchika studied.
Around 20 activists of Bajrang Dal held a demonstration outside Ruchikas school this morning and raised slogans demanding cancellation of the affiliation of the school and withdrawal of an honour given to the Principal Sister Sebastian for her outstanding work.
