Cause for delay

On the death anniversary of first PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru, Congressmen were sulking about the fact that PM Narendra Modi didn’t visit his memorial to pay homage. They said it was the first time that any PM ignored the death anniversary of Nehru. However, Modi tweeted in the morning: “I pay my tributes to our 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his Punya Tithi.”

GUJARATI IMPACT

The PMO seems to be careful to honour the public commitment of PM Narendra Modi that Gujarati food will be served in Delhi establishment. This turned out to be true in the first Cabinet meeting. The sna-cks served included one Gujar-ati dish — khandvi — apart fr-om paneer paokoda and sweet. However, for the old-timers who served under Vajpayee this would be called frugal.

HANDOVER, FINALLY

Lateby a day, Twitter managed to finally hand over the @PMOIndia Twitter handle to the new PMO. While it was planned that the switch over will be timed for 6 pm Monday in sync with the swearing-in of Narendra Modi, technical glitches played spoilsport. The new PMO’s first tweets welcomed all to the revamped PMO website and said all tweets from the handle up to May 26 have been archived on the website.

TAKING STOCK

With the change in guard at the MHA, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami, who took charge last year, is still trying to better equip himself with his ministry. Starting Tuesday, Goswami has started holding a meeting of his officers at 9.15 am every day. The officers at the meeting were informed that the Home Secretary will take this meeting every day where all joint secretary level officers are supposed to be present .
