Britannia opens its 1st unit for bakery products in Gujarat

Britannia Industries on Wednesday opened its first manufacturing unit for bakery products in Gujarat at Jhagadia Industrial Estate in Bharuch district. The manufacturing unit was set up at an investment of around Rs 75-100 crore and,when scaled up,is capable of producing 45,000 tonnes per annum,stated an official release. “The factory will employ close to 750 employees all of whom are first generation skilled workers. We expect to bring down the distance travelled by our products through the setting up of this facility,” Vinay Singh Kushwaha,vice-president,supply chain,Britannia Industries Limited,said. The location of this manufacturing facility is very strategic with proximity to the big markets of Gujarat,Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh with the added advantage of being close to a port for export purposes. Gujarat also offered an industrial environment with access to skilled manpower and infrastructure of power,fuel etc,the release added.
