Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be presented the Bharat Ratna by President Pranab Mukherjee on March 27 at his residence. Normally, recipients come to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive the award, but in the case of Vajpayee an exception is being made keeping in mind the delicate state of his health. [related-post] The President will also confer the Bharat Ratna posthumously on Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya on March 30 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan along with the Civil Investiture Ceremony for the Padma Awards. The announcement to award the Bharat Ratna to the former Prime Minister was made on the occasion of his birthday on December 25 last year.
