Anonymous letter unearths three-month old gangrape

Based the letter, the Porbandar police have registered a case of rape against three 'influential' persons.

Based on an anonymous letter, the Porbandar police have registered a case of rape against three persons as the victim was afraid to take legal action against the “influential” suspects.

The Bagvadar police on Sunday night registered the complaint against three men for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman several times at her residence three months ago.

“An anonymous letter was received by the Porbandar police in connection with the incident. Investigation revealed that the allegations levelled in the letter were not baseless,” said a police officer.

When the police tried to contact the victim after receiving the letter, they found the woman had shifted to Adhitiyana with her husband. Further investigation revealed that the incident was three-month old.

The woman reportedly told the police that she was gangraped at her house several times by Bhima Arjan,Harbham Mehr and Rana Raja. The three reportedly are influential people and the couple’s financial condition is poor, which prevented them from approaching police.

Police said the trio has been booked for rape and criminal intimidation, and further investigation is on.
